GOODBYEEEEEE :(

Hi everyone! I am so happy that this term ends. But I don't know how to feel about this course's ending. I guess relieved... Speaking for myself, I learned a lot from my instructor and this course. The part that I truely love was blogging. I want to keep writing my blog, it’s really relaxing.  Among all the tasks, creating a podcast was my favorite, while creating a flipped class was my least favorite. I believe these feelings stem from the process involved in each task. For example, we created the podcast in peace. It was an enjoyable time for me and my partner and we are content with the result. However, the process of creating flipped class was so tiring that I remember how I eagerly wantes it to be done. I guess group members affects everything. Although I liked creating most of those materials/videos etc., I don't think all of them are necessary for our teaching. I think there were lots of assignments, that bored me a lot. If there we weren't so busy with other cl...

DESINGNING AN AI INTEGRATED MATERIAL

Hi everyone! How have you been? I hope you are great. Be ready to read my last post for this term. (let's say assignment related.) This is the last assignment of the term. We worked in groups again with my dear friends Fatma Reyhan Tuğ, Sümeyya Ataş , Sümeyra Aslan . I must say that I am really lucky to have these group friends. Thanks to them it was again an entertaining process.💟 Let's talk about the assignment then. We were supossed to create an AI integrated teaching material based on the book of high school prep students. We selected a topic/focus to be able to create an AI integrated work. We decided to use the topic directions and wanted students to create a map using the names of the places through ChatGPT. After the creation we asked them to create questions again by using ChatGPT. Up to this point, all the things are based on the AI usage and good instructions. After that, they exhange the worksheets then answer the questions of his/her partner.  I think this assi...

DESIGNING AN AR/VR INTEGRATED TEACHING MATERIAL

Hello everyone!      How are you doing these days? I hope you all great and ready for the finals week. If you are asking me, it's getting harder everyday to keep up with the assignments. I've learned from experiences that procrastinating always leads to deep regret. So, I am trying to be the best of myself and don't procrastinate studying. 😣 Nevermind. Let's talk about this week's assignment on Current Issues class. 2 weeks ago, at class, we reminded what was the AR and VR and saw some examples on them. If you often get confused like me, AR is augmented reality that adds digital elements to real world. And more beyond of it, is VR. VR is a virtual reality that creates fully virtual and immerse world. Later that class, our instructor told us to create a AR/VR integrated teaching material and I panicked the moment I heard it.  Relax, relax. We're not creating an AR or VR video ourselves. We just need to use existing ones from the intern...

DESIGNING A FLIPPED CLASS

HI EVERYONE! How are you? I hope you are great because I am not, because of designing a flipped class for my future lessons.😞 You may be asking what is the flipped class and why are you designing it, keep reading I'll share every nightmare-like detail. 2 weeks ago we learned the flipped class approach and our insturctor assigned us to create a flipped class. It is a class that enables students to learn at home, practice at class. It   lets students learn at their own pace with pre-class materials and focus on activities in class. It encourages active learning and allows teachers to provide more support. However, it relies on technology, which not all students may have, and some might not prepare in advance. As always, we needed to work in groups, so I worked with my friends Fatma Reyhan Tug and Hayrunnisa Azbay. It could be a vocabulary or a grammatical teaching lesson but we chose a vocabulary lesson. As our target learners are 5th grade ESL learners we examined their syl...

Designing a CorpusMate Teaching Material

Hello all,  I hope you are well. In this post, I’ll introduce the assignment that is assigned to us. I worked with my friends Fatma Reyhan Tuğ and Hayrunnisa Azbay . First, we had to choose modal verbs or vocabulary phrases that are mostly confused. We chose Must and Should to differentiate their usage. Then, we chose  a corpus to create a teaching material and a lesson plan based on it.  Our aim was to teach the differences  between them and to help students explore the authentic use of these modals by using a corpus.  As corpus we chose CorpusMate which is the easiest one to use in my opinion. We created  materials, planned the activities, and wrote clear instructions on the worksheet to help students use CorpusMate without trouble. If you want to see our activity, please click .  After finishing the materials, we started working on the lesson plan. We used the ASSURE model and tried out different lesson plan templates.  If you want...

HI AGAIN!

For Now, It's Time To Say Goodbye!

Hi guys! This is the last post, for this term. Don't be upset, I'll come back in the 3rd grade. 👀😌 First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to our instructor for this lecture. I'm very pleased with the course and the lecturer. The Instructional Technologies and Material Design in English Language Teaching course has taught me a great deal and helped me enhance my technology skills. Initially, the idea of completing a weekly assignment seemed challenging, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. Every task added a bit of fun to my student life, providing a pleasant break from the usual exams and presentations. Writing a blog page, in particular, offered some much-needed relief. Throughout this course, I've gained a deeper appreciation for the role of technology in English teaching and learning. Each week, we tackled assignments like creating podcasts, digital stories, and infographics using various tools. Among these activities, I found creating podcasts the...
